Essay Contest The winners of a recent Optimist essay writing competition. Each year the Optimist Club of Arlington sponsors an Essay Contest for Arlington high school students. A topic on optimism is selected by Optimist International and is administered worldwide. The Contestants use the topic to develop an word composition. First, second, and third place winners will present their papers at a club meeting after COVID pandemic-related restrictions allow. First place went to Sydney Mafong, a student at Pacific Trails Middle School. Her essay advanced to the District contest for a chance at even greater prizes including a college scholarship.
Second place went to Olivia D, a student at Torrey Pines High School. Third place went to Adam Proshchenko, a student at Torrey Hills Elementary School.
