Essay Contest The winners of a recent Optimist essay writing competition. Each year the Optimist Club of Arlington sponsors an Essay Contest for Arlington high school students. A topic on optimism is selected by Optimist International and is administered worldwide. The Contestants use the topic to develop an word composition. The top three essay contestants receive a monetary award from The Optimist International Essay contest is divided into two levels of competition: Club and District. 2. Contestants must enter through a local Optimist Club, or an At-Large contest if a local club is not available. Optimist Club announces winners of Essay Scholarship Contest - Del Mar Times



First, second, and third place winners will present their papers at a club meeting after COVID pandemic-related restrictions allow. First place went to Sydney Mafong, a student at Pacific Trails Middle School. Her essay advanced to the District contest for a chance at even greater prizes including a college scholarship.


Second place went to Olivia D, a student at Torrey Pines High School. Third place went to Adam Proshchenko, a student at Torrey Hills Elementary School.
